Types of surrogacy

There are two types of surrogacy: traditional, where the surrogate uses her own egg, and gestational, where the embryo is created from the intended parents' or donors' gametes.

In traditional surrogacy, the surrogate is biologically related to the child, as her egg is used. In gestational surrogacy, the surrogate has no genetic link to the child, as an embryo created from the intended parents' or donors' egg and sperm is transferred to her uterus.
