Can low sperm count cause infertility?
Yes, a low sperm count can make conception more difficult but doesn’t always cause infertility.
A low sperm count (oligospermia) means that fewer sperm are present in the semen, reducing the chances of fertilising an egg. However, even with a low count, pregnancy can still occur naturally or with the help of fertility treatments like intrauterine insemination (IUI) or in vitro fertilisation (IVF). Lifestyle changes, medication, or surgery might help improve sperm count and increase fertility chances.
