Can I have treatment if my BMI isn't within the threshold?
If your BMI is above 35 or below 19, Care Fertility cannot propose a treatment plan until it is reduced below this threshold, as this ensures the best chance for a healthy pregnancy.
At Care Fertility, the well-being of our patients is the top priority. If your BMI (Body Mass Index) is above 35 or below 19, the team is unable to recommend a fertility treatment plan at that stage. This is because higher BMI levels are associated with increased risks during pregnancy and can affect the success of fertility treatments.
However, Care Fertility is committed to supporting clients throughout their fertility journey. If you wish to have your fertility tests and a consultation, you can do so. During the consultation, the doctor will thoroughly review your fertility test results, but they will not be able to go ahead with a treatment plan.
Your test results will be valid for 6 months, meaning that you can come back and commence treatment if your BMI has lowered during this time period.
If you have any questions or need further support regarding BMI and fertility treatments, Care Fertility’s new patient enquiries team is available to help. You can contact them on 0800 564 2270.
